PRERREQUISITOS Y CONOCIMIENTOS PREVIOS RECOMENDADOS

  • Essential knowledge: Anatomy, Citology and Histology, and General Pathology.
  • Advisable knowledge: microbiology, parasitology, immunology.
  • Remark:  Students should know the normal organ structure (Anatomy, Cytology and Histology) and general characteristics of the lesions (General Pathology) facilitate learning in the pathological diagnosis. Other subjects of previous degree courses like veterinary microbiology and parasitology help understanding the biological aetiology; Physiology and Pathophysiology (part of the subject of General Pathology), to interpret the functional changes of the animal organism; and subject of Immunology to understand the injuries caused by immune reactions.

DESCRIPCIÓN GENERAL DE LA ASIGNATURA

We study the morphological changes of the various organs that make up systems of domestic species and the proposed objectives, the student will recognize, explain and systematize the cadaverous alterations, development, circulatory, metabolic, inflammatory, parasitic and tumor of various organs and animal systems; will perform necropsies regulated in different domestic species and reports; and obtain and use bibliographic information on the subject.

OBJETIVOS: CONOCIMIENTOS Y CAPACIDADES

  • Develop the ability to analyze and synthesize.
  • Develop oral and written communication as qualified person.
  • Make decisions and solve cases.
  • For this, the student will describe, recognize, explain and systematize the cadaverous alterations, development, circulatory, metabolic, inflammatory, parasitic and tumor of the various animal organs and systems; will perform necropsies regulated in different domestic species and reports; and obtain and use bibliographic information on cases.

METODOLOGÍA

Methodology lectures
  • Interactive and based cases class. The  teacher will present one or more short cases with images in classroom and students describe the lesions and they give pathological and etiologic differential diagnoses. Students will have the Virtual Aula platform guides texts what they take it to class, previously studied, for the correct and asset development of same.

Methodology of practical classes
  • Technical necropsy. Visual display of the steps to open a corpse in a structured manner in the different domestic species, as well as guidelines for organic lesion study, drafting  necropsy reports and recommendations for the collection and shipment of samples.
  • Necropsies. Groups of less than 10 students performed autopsies scheduled and necropsies of animals arriving in the Pathology Service of  Veterinary Hospital. The students will submit written reports from necropsies performed at teacher in charge of your group.
  • Morphopathologic pictures. Visual display of pathological processes of domestic species with gross and microscopic images that the students describe and diagnose.
  • Slaughterhouse seized organs. In the autopsy room, students describe the different damaged organs and make a summary lessional report.
